Me and the guitar amazing the kids at a rural school (showing them you can be a complete failure at playing the guitar and still play it! HAHAHAH)

 Typical House in Rural area.
s
Up a trail to visit 2 families 35kms from town.

With the rainy season finaly arriving after about 10 months of drought we are happy to see the people happy and planting. Of course the roads to the rural areas we minister in have turned to pulp but that is fine (the boys specially love the big puddles). We are busy visiting the homes of people we have met in the last two years and deepening discipleship while also finding new places for Bible Studies!
Thanks for your prayers!!!

The last ten days have been packed with Bible Events at most of the schools in the rural area of Virgem da Lapa (town we live in). Here in Brazil they have a day dedicated to Children called children's day, a day when they have no school and get presents (probably a holiday made up by TysRUs management!). Anyways we were able to go into schools and do a 1 and a half hour event were we not only clowned around but presented the Gospel to many children! It was a huge success and God touched the hearts of many!

100 Fahrenheit

The hot weather has reached us for sure now! It has been averaging 100 F every day for the last week. At night it gets down to around 85F. Hard to sleep so we wet the sheets and cover ourselves with the fans at full blast. We call it missionary air conditioning!
Bible studies in the rural areas are going well and being more and more firmly established. God is really working in the hearts of many and answering the prayers of many also.
We are starting to schedule events either early in the morning or late in the afternoon since the heat is overwhelming.

Thanks for all your prayers for the team of short term missionaries that came to do Evangelism at the biggest Catholic festival that occurs in the town we live in. God really blessed us and the team was even allowed to present on main stage twice! The street Evangelism went well also and so did the rural communities we took the team to!

Christians from town said they NEVER saw an Evangelistic effort during this wicked festival of idolatry. Thanks for your prayers! They made a difference!

The Virgin of the Stone Festival

From the 10th to the 17th the celebrations for the Virgin of the Stone (patron idol of the town we live in) will be happening. The festivities are the biggest event in this town and attracts as many as 10000 people from all around this area. There will be daily masses, many street vendors and wild music concerts that go till 4 in the morning every day. Of course drugs, alcohol and promiscuity are also one of the main ingredients of this idolatrous celebration. This event has been going on since the late 17 hundreds after the statue was claimed to have been found in a cave close to town.

The Virgin of the Stone has been a stumbling block for many to give there lives over to Jesus as the  tradition goes back a far way in the lives of all from this area.

We will be receiving a group of 15 YWAM part time missionaries who will be doing street evangelism during these days.
Please pray that many will be set free from the bondage of sin that enslaves them!
Your prayers are as important as us going out to share the Good News!

Where did July go?

In the first two weeks of July we managed to get new Bible studies going in 2 new rural villages! This was awesome and is the fruit of the prayers of many! Picture of old school building we used for Bible study!
The last two weeks of July were spent at Grandpa and Grandmas! We travelled the 550 miles over to visit my parents and help at Camp Victoria. We had an awesome time and it was great to speak to the teens during the last week of camp.
The new truck has been great and we used it to travel to my parents. Got great diesel to the km mileage!
Anyways July just rushed by but was great!

Getting ready for 2 semester...

This week we are getting into preparations for the 2 semester and all the goals we have set for it. As we go out into the rural area many times we keep postponing work that has to be done to allow us to be serving here in an efficient manner (car maintenance, house maintenance, office organization, etc.) So we are catching up on these things. Next week we will be visiting my parents at Camp Victoria and I will be speaking to teens there in the last camp of July.

These past weeks have been filled with many great blessings! We got the car we were praying for (97 Toyota Diesel 4runner), and were also able to share the Gospel in many places. God really has opened doors here! We have also spent a lot of time re-visiting villages we had been to before. Our focus has really turned entirely to Bible studies in these rural communities. Thanks for all your prayers!

Mothers month!

May just rushed by and we had many Bible teaching events in the rural area. May is the month in which mothers day is celebrated and so we did many programs with a emphases on the Faith mothers need to raise their kids. It was great and opened the doors for us to return to many villages next month.
We are purchasing 2 tents and some chairs to have the Bible studies in these remote rural villages.
This weekend we travel 600miles to go pick up the truck we bought for the ministry here. Will post more on that soon.
Telma and the boys are doing fine and they are finally caught up with all the school they missed while we were on furlough! Big blessing!!!
